Poised with sharklike self-assurance, Marla Grayson (Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike) is a professional, court-appointed guardian for dozens of elderly wards whose assets she seizes and cunningly bilks through dubious but legal means. It's a well-oiled racket that Marla and her business-partner and lover Fran (Eiza González) use with brutal efficiency on their latest "cherry," Jennifer Peterson (two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest) -- a wealthy retiree with no living heirs or family. But when their mark turns out to have an equally shady secret of her own and connections to a volatile gangster (Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage), Marla is forced to level up in a game only predators can play -- one that's neither fair, nor square.

Critics Consensus

A searing swipe at late-stage capitalism, I Care A Lot is an exhilarating pitch black comedy with a wicked performance from Rosamund Pike.

Audience Says

Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage do good work, but they're acting in a dark and ugly story that doesn't give the audience anyone to root for.

It is refreshingly pungent, and as the engine of a crime plot with some truly outrageous twists, Pike gives an outstandingly nasty performance worthy of major attention. Go to Full Review

Filmmaking this perversely amoral is never going to be a crowdpleaser, and early responses have been aggressively divided, but I Care a Lot isn't out to be liked: like the best con artists, it gets you caught up in its strut. Go to Full Review

Davene J @TheFabD 1 day ago Too many holes. It's got a lot of excitement but there's no way you believe the psychopath Roman lets it get that far and Fran would have been long dead by the time Marla gets there. I didn't buy that Marla was that depraved no enough character building. No one would have reacted that way. Dianne Wiest movies are always worth watching though she's the queen. See more mitchell H @RT35989033 Oct 25, 2026 I rate this up there with the room in the disaster of a film department. Both outlandishly entertaining in their ability to deliver the exact opposite of what was intended. Marla is supposed to be cool and badass but unless there is a triple metaphor deep meta that I’m missing she’s just a cliche stupid insanely boring and annoying character. Somehow her spiritual goodness, she’s a badass fighter or some other cliche, is supposed to override her moral shortcomings. But actually what is most annoying about her isn’t that she steals from the elderly it’s that she has basic b word taste. It’s not a cool villain. She goes to spin class and drinks champagne with her girlfriend? Who gives a single f? Is this supposed to be impressive? See more Stone Cold T @Thwompthing Oct 17, 2026 It's absolutely hilarious that people give this a ridiculously low score because the movie made them HATE a character so much like Marla's! HAHAH. That's what a film is SUPPOSED to do, ya idiots! On that note, I'm so glad the original son in the opening scene got to waste her at the end. She got what she deserved!!! Great movie. See more Dominic A @RT70965204 Oct 13, 2026 WHAT A FUCKING WASTE OF MY 2 HOURS! Worst portrayal of the Russian mafia I've ever seen. You're telling me a powerful and ruthless mafia boss gets outsmarted this easily? WHAT A JOKE! They made the Russian mafia look like a bunch of clueless amateurs. The plot is ridiculous, the characters are unbearable, and the ending is absolute garbage. I genuinely regret watching this movie. Two hours of my life I'll never get back. See more rebeca P @RT54404747 Oct 8, 2026 Never in my life did I hate a character more! It pushed me so far I nearly felt like I hate the actress also! The best part of this movie is in the last 30 seconds. See more Tim S @RT32875658 Sep 20, 2026 Spend the whole time showing the viewer what scum these ladies are….then provide an interesting twist and chance for justice…then make the terrible women the heros….i did not enjoy hating someone and seeing them come out on top…over and over and over and over….👎 See more Read all reviews
