Twenty-thousand years ago, Earth was a wondrous, prehistoric world filled with great danger, not the least of which is the beginning of the Ice Age. To avoid a terrible frostbite, the planet's majestic creatures - and a few small, slothful ones - begin migrating south. The story revolves around sub-zero heroes: a woolly mammoth, a saber-toothed tiger, a sloth and a prehistoric combination of a squirrel and rat, known as Scrat.

After the first three wordless minutes of Ice Age, where a mute squirrel creature named Scrat hilariously struggles to bury his sole remaining acorn in a newly formed glacier, everything goes downhill.

The highlight of the film turns out to be the character least integral to the "plot" ... [Scrat's] apparently eternal quest for a beloved chestnut...plays like a series of classic cartoon short subjects...

A childhood favorite. Grew up watching it with my brother. Yeah, it may have some really immature poop jokes but don't forget: It's a kids movie. Stuff like that is expected. I would say that Ray Romano's voice suits Manny the mammoth really well and John Leguizamo KILLS it as Sid the sloth. Diego was a fan favorite of my brother. We both thought he was REALLY COOL. The scene where he has his eyes glowing used to creep the HELL out of me as a kid, though. The ice slide scene is SUPER fun and so is the running from the lava scene and the fight between Manny and the Rhinos. In fact, that's something Blue Sky does not get NEARLY enough credit for: They can make THRILLING action sequences. The score by David Newman (The brother of Thomas Newman and Randy Newman) is EMOTIONALLY MOVING as well. The story, as simple as it is, is pretty heartwarming in my opinion. You really want to see Manny, Sid, and Diego bring the human baby back to its people. So, yeah. I would say give it a watch.
