TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 6 days ago I’ll See You in My Dreams starts roughly, and I was not sure it would find its footing. It follows an older woman in retirement, offering a romantic comedy centered on older women who deserve to be seen and heard. That focus gives the story a welcome perspective. The casting works well, and the story develops in a way that mostly met my expectations. Honestly, I thought this might be a complete bomb, so I was surprised by how quickly I became interested. Once the film settles in, its characters become engaging, and the romance feels more enjoyable than I expected. It may not reinvent the genre, but it gives its leads room to have lives beyond retirement. By the end, I appreciated the film for what it is. It reminds viewers that romance and personal growth do not stop with age, and older characters can still have stories worth telling. The beginning could have been stronger, but the movie improves enough to make the experience worthwhile. I came away surprised and can recommend it. Great acting by all the actors, though I'm a bit tired of seeing Sam Elliott in the same quiet-Southern-gentleman-cowboy-who-doesn't-say- much roles. Would have liked to see the Martin Starr character a bit more developed but overall a nice movie that makes the ordinary lovely. Probably more interesting for an older audience. See more London Girl W @LondonGirl Sep 5, 2024 I was really enjoying this film, and was so disappointed when Bill died unexpectedly. The film definitely seemed lacking in content. It was a bit lacklustre. I enjoyed it until Bill died, then felt short changed. The acting was good and I'm a fan of Sam Elliot and Blythe Danner. If I had l known what the ending was going to be, I would have chosen not to watch it. Martin Starr was very boring and annoying, could have done without him and his tone deaf voice.
