Amber M @RT26067045 Jun 18 I Like Me feels like more than a movie. It feels like finding an old photograph of someone you loved and realizing, all over again, how much they meant to you. John Candy had a rare gift. He could make you laugh without ever making you feel that laughter was the point. Beneath the jokes, the warmth, the clumsy charm, there was always something deeply human. He played ordinary people who wanted ordinary things — to be loved, to belong, to be enough. And somehow, he made those simple desires feel enormous. Watching him here is bittersweet because you know what was coming. You see the kindness in his face, the vulnerability behind the comedy, and you can't help but mourn the years we never got to see. There's a particular sadness in watching someone who still had so much joy to give. John Candy never seemed like a distant movie star. He felt like somebody you knew. The funny uncle.
