When Civil War veteran John Carter mysteriously awakes on the surface of Mars -- also called Barsoom -- he little expects the adventure that awaits him. After over a decade, this movie maintained its charm, the quality of production, the flying machineries, the characters, the plot, the literal everything! I know that people say it's disastrously everywhere which indicates their Mental capacity, or rather lack of. Now, I want it to be a serie and I need multiple seasons, thanks. The special effects were impressive, and while it’s not Avatar or backed by that level of budget, it delivers big on adventure and world-building. It’s also more relatable than expected, feeling like a modern-day Lawrence of Arabia.. set on Mars. Rewatching it today, it still holds up and left me wanting more. In fact, it was the first movie I ever bought on Blu-ray 3D, which says a lot about the impression it made. John Carter has earned an unfair reputation over the years, but taken on its own merits, it’s an entertaining and ambitious sci-fi adventure. Here’s hoping it someday gets the sequel it deserves.
