While it's not quite as disturbing and brutal as the original tv movie, it benefits greatly from its larger budget, ambitious storytelling, and creative direction. What it loses in sheer intensity and fright-factor, it gains in ghostly eeriness and memorable scare sequences. Whether you prefer this version of the tv version is a matter of personal preference, but both of them beat the hell out of the decent but much less frightening American remake.
