KENNY DALGLISH narrates his own journey, joined by his wife Marina and closest footballing friends Graeme Souness and Alan Hansen and other fans. Drawing from hundreds of hours of archival footage, including never-before-seen personal clips from his playing career and home life, the film reveals his remarkable story -- a great player and an extraordinary, witty, and humble hero of Liverpool Glasgow, and the world of football. With skill, strength, flair, and sharp humor, the Scotsman is one of the club's and Europe's greatest players and a true icon of the sport for what he did off the pitch as much as on it.

A warm and gutsy portrait of the legendary Liverpool star from Asif Kapadia. Go to Full Review

Perhaps lacking the crossover appeal of Kapadia’s previous docs, Kenny Dalglish still presents a fitting tribute to one of football’s finest. Go to Full Review

Like Kapadia’s Maradona documentary, the film grows more interesting when it examines the relationship between the footballer and his adopted city. Go to Full Review

That inextricable relationship between politics, society, and sport [presented in KENNY DALGLISH] is the story of modern Britain, a powerful tool for understanding what tomorrow’s nation may look like, and for how we will come to view today’s. Go to Full Review

Leaburn O Nov 17 Well produced as always but Kampadia has made more compelling documentaries. Dalglish is a fairly dreary but talented legend in Liverpool but it’s a well worn story and very little is added by this homage. It doesn’t delve beneath the surface or reveal anything new, so we’re left with legitimate grievances and typical Scouse bleetings of Tory victimisation. Watched on Amazon Prime. See more Justin D @Justinpeter Nov 11 There are no Talking Heads in this picture, it’s just the voices of Kenny Daglish, his wife Marina and others talking over scenes of the times, his time at Celtic and Liverpool and the relationship he had with the adopted city of Liverpool. And Daglish and Liverpool should both be proud. Daglish may be a great footballer and manager, but it’s how he responds to the two disasters that mark the man. It’s more than just football and the clips took me back to a different time. Lovely stuff and recommended. See more Stephen C Nov 7 I watched this over 2 nights - 45mins per half... pure accident given it is about one of the greatest sportsmen of all time. Humble, funny and extremely powerful - I wish more modern day footballers acted with the humanity of Kenny Dalglish. A true credit to Glasgow, and the clubs he played for, Celtic & Liverpool. See more Dunc Nov 6 Being 48 yrs old. Kenny is one of my first true memories and understanding of football. Being a Liverpool fan ive always held him in high regard. What i liked the most about this documentary is it gives you a true insight to the make up of the man. His complete lack of ego shines through from the start. As the film progresses you get a sense of his true humility and love for the club, fans and city. I became emotional seeing and feeling his heartbreak at the disaster at Sheffield. I'd watch a similar doc of any great player because I love the game. Id urge anyone of similar feelings to put partisan football allegiance aside and watch this wonderful film. In a nutshell any true fan of the game will love this. Ultimately even the most die hard utd fan will warm to one of the most talented and genuine human beings to ever lace a boot See more Read all reviews
