David K @RT61474040 Jul 28, 2025 As others have noted, the weak point really is Robert Taylor's performance. Not only is it one-note, everyone else in the film speaks with a British accent, but not Sir Robert. We live in a world where actors are required to offer a reasonable facsimile of an accent. In fact, many of the best spend weeks, if not months, honing one with speech coaches. Too bad that wasn't true in earlier Hollywood. The film (and Taylor's others in this trio of films [Ivanhoe, Quentin Durward]) suffers for it. A fine example of the expediency of old Hollywood taking priority over realism. See more

joe s @RT65550607 Dec 6, 2021 Dreadful film expecting the wide screen to do it all. The script is corny and the actors seem to know it. Whoever told Robert Taylor with that flat one-note voice , that he could act? See more

Sep 5, 2021 One of the lamest, dumbest films ever made. Ridiculous story, horrible acting, especially by Taylor. That includes the really weird knights on horseback pillow fight. Bizarre. One of the worst movies ever made. Laughably stupid. See more

Mar 5, 2020 The acting is bad because the writing is bad. The fight scenes are poor. That said it was fairly entertaining. When Monty Python wrote and filmed the Holy Grail this was the blueprint to lampoon . See more

Mar 12, 2016 Your ambitions soar high on such young wings. King Arthur and Lancelot become best friends during Arthur's rise to power. They form the knights of the roundtable and are unmatched. As they begin to seem unbreakable, scandals within the walls of the castle opens a crack enemies will try to exploit. "Who is it?" "Death...awaiting on the stairs." Richard Thorpe, director of Jailhouse Rock, Ivanhoe, Vengeance Valley, The Golden Head, The Prodigal, Killers of Kilimanjaro, Athena, and Carbine Williams, delivers Knights of the Round Table. The storyline for this picture was fun and has some great action scenes. I loved the script as well as the acting. The cast includes Robert Taylor, Ava Gardner, Mel Ferrer, and Stanley Baker. "I thank you for the help I did not need." I came across this on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and had to DVR it. I generally enjoy movies in this genre and this was fairly well done. This may not be an all time classic, or worth adding to your DVD collection, but it is worth a viewing. "Without you I endure life. With you I rejoice in it." Grade: B- See more

Jun 6, 2015 Meet the young and beautiful Ava Gardner whom I first met in the movie Earthquake as an old woman. Story is well known but the fighting scenes were really amusing. After all, what can you expect from movies made in those days. I could see dedication of the crew. See more
