The President (reminiscent of Mattarella) faces a moral crisis over euthanasia, while his daughter pushes for progress. Subplots involving prisoners add gravity, yet the "Reggae Pope" on a TMax feels like a forced surrealist trope. Iconic scenes, like the President rapping Guè Pequeno, feel more calculated than spontaneous. However, technical execution remains impeccable: the photography, dialogue pacing, and soundtrack are world-class. Yet, the script lacks the bite of The Great Beauty. The aesthetic is flawless, but the narrative structure is thin. Sorrentino is still Italy’s premier auteur, but here the writing is too predictable. Rating: 2.5/5.
