Alain E @AlainE Dec 3, 2024 Elsa Ferrante is much better known in the US today than 29 years ago when this movie, based on one of her books, came out. Another unexpected offering from Tubi. The lack of any professional reviews reflects that probably was never shown here officially. The story is a little convoluted, but it appears that it reflects past sexual abuse that the heroine suffered as a child, which she reminisces as she is trying to investigate the recent unexplained death of her mother. Good acting and very nice color photography. See more

See more

Jul 4, 2008 When her elderly mother dies in mysterious circumstances, Delia begins to investigate the complex and murky private life of a woman that she never really understood. Along the way, she discovers not only the forces and passions that motivated her mo...(read more) ther, but also the darkness at the core of her own being. The turmoil and unease that grows within Delia as she pursues the truth about her mother, is echoed by the chaotic scenes of Bolognan streetlife and the edgy Daghi Rondanini score. Not an easy watch, and ultimately, this restrained and downbeat work throws up more questions about the nature of truthfulness than it answers. Intelligent and challenging. See more
