Loved it. When I was really depressed and staying with friends, I happened to watch it one day. I hate the effing horse track. It's all fixed. Knew a guy that destroyed himself betting on the ponies. Take a down on his luck loser and Dreyfus comes through. Being a student of film, this movie goes much deeper than most of the people are giving credit for. After three times of viewing it and watching the interactions of the "rich people" and Dreyfus along with Johansen is priceless.

This is a decent film. 30% seems kind of unfair. Almost like the critics thought they deserved a mind boggling unforgettable experience about the psychology of a gambler or something. What this movie really is, is charming. It’s get funny characters, oddly good cinematography, and some pretty well acted scenes. I also love how everyone fell in love with him throughout the movie, kinda like “The Terminal” where Viktor wins over everyone at the airport. 3.5/5 stars, pretty darn decent.
