Zifeng X @RT11977737 Nov 6 This is the single most Chinese film out there, something that can only come out from a Chinese director and film crew. If you are looking for a "Chinese film" in specific, come for this one. This film contains an incredible amount of Chinese political and historical references and hints that are difficult to grasp, even for a born and raised Chinese such as myself. The mastery of dialogue goes throughout the film, the hinted meanings and references are exhiliarating if you get the metadata in the lines, and even if you cannot grasp every hidden detail and implied meaning behind the plot----Which is absolutely understandable----It's still a wonderful comedy film if you consider it a western. But no, THIS IS NOT A WESTERN. This is Jiang Wen at his finest. See more 羽卿 江 @RT77836420 Mar 25 The dialogue and scenes in this film are truly iconic, which is why many Chinese netizens often use the term "申遗" (applying for cultural heritage status) to describe Let the Bullets Fly. The movie is indeed filled with metaphors, but just as one of the characters in the film says, "Bandits fighting tyrants—it's that simple." I really enjoy the film's storytelling, music, and atmosphere; it has a sense of magical realism. I believe that even without any background knowledge of Chinese history, one can still fully appreciate and enjoy it. Mostly a good watch, but there are a multitude of action comedies that hit the mark where this one misses.
