Adam N Dec 19 While the plot choice is somewhat odd, the film has several memorable moments and enjoyable characters. The only real problem "License to Drive" has is its extremely idealized ending. There's nothing wrong with a movie about inexperienced goofy teenagers getting into wacky hi-jinks, but having the main character essentially get off scot free without any consequences really lowers the impact of the film as a whole. Plot: Les decides to hit the town with the girl of his dreams taking his grandad caddy on journey despite failing his driving test. "A innocent girl, an harmless drive, what could possibly go wrong" License To Drive is one of the hidden gems of the 1980s. When people mention 1980s films you trend to hear, Back To The Future, The Terminator, The Goonies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and many more classics, However I never hear anyone mention License To Drive and I always wonder why! This film is 80s cheese at its best with a script that would only work in the 80s, trust me there are lines and jokes which would never past in today day an age, Which for myself makes License To drive even better. Yes I will admit the film has not aged well and was definitely a product of its time but if you want to escape and live in the 1980s then License To Drive is a much watch. I have to say the plot is simple but effective with its 90 minute runtime License To Drive get straight to the point and stays focus in its lane! With some random moments just for laughs which can move the story alone, however some moments landed and other did miss the mark with some cringed jokes which weren't very funny. Perhaps the best thing about License To Drive is its amazing cast with Corey Haim (RIP) really stealing the show here. With Haim performance as Les he crates a very relatable and typical teenager to life, with his line delivery giving a certain way of talking to each of the different characters for example he speaks different to his parents then what he does to his friends which make Les a very relatable character. Haim is known for lots of different roles, best known as Sam in The Lost Boys but here I believe he gives a career best performance. I have to shout out Corey Feldman as well, with his great chemistry with Haim. The Scenes with the two of them really carried the film and I wish we had more time with the two of them as Feldman only really gets time to shine in the second and third acts. Never the less these two did work well together. One last thing I will mention is this films soundtrack with many catchy songs and one in particular you might of heard of even if you haven't seen License To Drive. After all being said License To Drive to a damn good time, with it's amazing cast, good soundtrack and run simple but effective story which will having you smiling at times with only it's 90 minute runtime. License To Drive might not be for everyone but it certainly works for me. I'd say give it a chance you can rent it on YouTube or Amazon. Rating: 7.1/10. See more thiago s @Thiagostone 09/23/2024 Filme legalzinho, o moleque é um ótimo protagonista, o roteiro é bacana, mas o filme errou na cena da carteira de motorista dele, poderiam fazer o moleque errar na aula de direção e não na aula escrita, por que o moleque ficaria preocupado em dirigir melhor do que só na ficante dele, já que ele errou só na prova escrita ele ficou preocupado só com a garota e o carro do pai dele, não ficou preocupado como ele ia dirigir se for devagar ou rápido. Gostei também do trio indo nos lugares, e achei legal a cena do bêbado roubando o carro do moleque enquanto ele ouve that's life, mas de resto o filme é legalzinho e é um filme que eu recomendo assistir. See more Eric F @eric35007 06/14/2024 This is the kind of movie that should be made again! It's hard to beat that heart warming feel of 1980's and 1990's teen comedies... They kind of bring those scenarios that likely wouldn't happen and troubled situations that would be horrible to go through, but you still kind wish it would happen to you. Corey Haim and Corey Feldman are great in this movie, like every single movie they did together. They had such a great chemistry that watching anything with them in the 1980's feels like hanging out with your old gang.
