When U.S. Marine Gabriel Drummer (Shia LaBeouf) returns from Afghanistan, he finds the place he once called home is no better than the battlefields he fought on overseas. Critics Consensus

Well-intentioned but overall misjudged, Man Down makes an unfortunately muddled attempt to mine thoughtful drama out of modern warfare's emotional wreckage.

Shia LaBeouf delivers a superb performance in a film that is otherwise misjudged on almost every level.

Once the smoke clears and the shock of its twists wears off, Man Down is even worse than it originally appears.

An uncomfortable blend of war movie, family drama and dystopian sci-fi.

Something about LaBeouf's work here pulled me through every aspect of this wildly uneven film.

What's unfortunate is how the film's complex themes become casualties of the film's ultimate ineptitude.

MAN DOWN attempts to cram a murky mass of plot and emotion into an hour-and-a-half of screen time. In the process, little of its meaning survived, and we're left with an appalling film.

Again, the critics can only bash what many audience enjoy. The audience score should be what the RT rating reflects. This movie is far from perfect, but I enjoyed it and appreciate what it attempts. If you are a fan of Kate mara, Tory Kittles, Gary Oldman, or Shia LaBouf, yo should see this. All those that think they are too high-minded to allow themselves to enjoy this need to re-think their wannabe intelligentsia aspirations and come back down to earth.
