Jo & Co Sep 14, 2022 When I saw this movie when it first appeared in 1974 I was disappointed. It was different and I thought it was the worse one of the franchise. Apart from Christopher Lee, who was the only redeeming thing in it, there was nothing at all in its favour. How things change. "The Man With The Golden Gun" was re-released at the cinema here in the Cayman Islands as part of their Tuesday night "Classics" yesterday (Tue 13 Sep). A young 20 year old beautiful Jamaican lady (Phyllisia) staying with Jo and myself had never seen it and talked me into watching it again. There was nothing in the movie that changed, apart form being on the "BIG" screen, but I, along with Jo and Phyllysia LOVED It!! It was exciting, it was funny, even with Clifton James as the tobacco chewing/spitting over the top US Sheriff from the previous Bon movie, was engaging. I had HATED him being in it before. And all the acting was top notch. Yes, Chris Lee did again steal the movie for me and that was the same call from both Jo and Phyllisia. We were not alone. A lady sitting in front of us said "it was fabulous". We all agreed. The question that puzzles me is why didn't I like it the first showing all those years ago? If it shows again in your area I urge you to see it again. There was nothing Jo and I disliked. It was 100% sheer enjoyment. See more william s Sep 14, 2022 Great classic Bond film! See more Jace E @thefilmguy 10 hrs ago The one where Christopher Lee has three nipples. How this movie made me feel in one word: Revitalized. When I think about "The Man with the Golden Gun", there are a few things that stick out: Positive: - Scaramanga is a top tier villain - A strong opening scene - What an interesting way to get the golden bullet - Everything on the island is fantastic - The duel is tense - The anxiety inducing cloud - Nick Nack needs to be in every Bond film Picky Nits: - Straight out of the gate with the third nipple - A lot of coincidences or conveniences - Goodnight hiding in the closet - The puns can be a little much - The second act drags - Why is JW back? While there is a lot that could have been cut from this movie, every scene with Scaramanga and his "fun house" island is captivating. Best Character: Scaramanga (HM to Nick Nack) Best Quote: "I only need one." - Scaramanga Best Scene: The duel Best Piece of Score: "Return to Scaramanga's Fun House" See more Neil B @Filmboy666 Oct 9, 2026 Not even one of the good bond films, the story lacks any direction and just drifts along, Worth a watch if you are a bond fan but otherwise probably best to give it a miss See more Huntin P @PaxVobiscum80 Sep 28, 2026 Years ago I set myself the impossible task of seeing all of Christopher Lee's movies. There's an entire encyclopaedia devoted to his career. A hopeless errand. Best stick with the classics, such as this, his impressively cool performance as a ruthless hitman who has his sight aimed at 007. This Bond number is more Asia than anywhere else. Expect plenty of karate and boating action, visits to the casino and the kick-boxing, a touch of sumo and some weird American cop on-vacation, who I think may have been a character from another franchise borrowed for this one. It's the Moore period. We're not supposed to like it, not the way we like Connery, but I suspect Moore's Bond is a guiltless guilty pleasure for many.
