Key plot points feel rushed or underexplored, making it hard to connect with the characters or understand their motivations. The screenplay lacks focus, veering between thriller, melodrama, and gratuitous sexualized imagery, which adds little to the story and feels exploitative. Performances are uneven; while some actors try to bring depth, the weak narrative undermines them, leaving characters unrelatable. Pacing is inconsistent, with long dull stretches interrupted by occasional suspense, which fails to maintain engagement. Directorially, the film has competent visuals but cannot compensate for storytelling flaws. It was an exceptional execution of a great screenplay. The performances were also top notch and the editing superb. Certain scenes are difficult but it never fell to anything approaching gratuitous and unnecessary trash typical of big budget theatrical releases these days. This movie is perfect proof that you don't need CGI and 100 million or ever 10 million to film a GREAT movie. See more 10/25/2018 Angie Wang is a dreamer and a realist - which perhaps is the reason "MDMA" is such a brilliant film. The glamour, isolation, and forgiveness told is an experience for all to see. MDMA is a movie that left me curious and hopeful for all who may be struggling with these issues today. If you have not seen this yet, I highly encourage it. Angie Wang is an outstanding director.
