I was hooked from start to finish. A well acted, human story with a sci-fi background. Truly emotional with real characters to care about. See more Ralph R Jul 30 Android/Mother is one of those movies that looks promising but totally falls flat. The only real highlight is Cloe, who pretty much carries the whole thing just by showing up. The acting is stiff, the script is awkward, and whatever emotional moments they tried just don’t land. Also, for some reason, like every other apocalyptic movie, everyone ends up hiding in the woods, even though you’ve got an android with every tracking sensor imaginable. Makes no sense. The only highlight is the random Converse ad (which, I gotta admit, made me like the shoes even more), but aside from that, nothing here stands out. The story tries to focus on Cloe and her husband, but their connection never really clicks. Overall, skip it unless you’re a big fan of Cloe or just want some shoe inspiration. The fear, and urgency to arrive at their destination before giving birth was palpable for me. As the audience we know the baby is not going to die, that just doesn't happen in American films, that fact alleviates a lot of opportunities for certain outcomes, because we know mother can't die, at least not yet. That doesnt mean their journey is not going to be dangerous and interesting. The story jumps at spots which may bother people, it's to move the story along and focus on the important aspects.
