After the murder of 11 Israeli athletes and their coach at the 1972 Olympics, the Israeli government secretly assigns Avner Kaufman (Eric Bana) to carry out a series of strategic retaliations. With the help of a driver (Daniel Craig), a forger (Hanns Zischler), a bomb-maker (Mathieu Kassovitz) and a former soldier (Ciarán Hinds), Avner conducts a worldwide operation, targeting 11 individuals. As the assassinations pile up, Avner begins to doubt the morality of his actions.

Munich has a great cast and behind the scenes pedigree, but it feels like two films in one. One is an exciting action/heist film about a team of assassins. The other is an introspective film about retribution, family and land. The two don't fully mesh.

Another good Spielberg film in terms of script and direction. Highly recommended, especially in the current context. But there are other aspects of the film that detracted a little from my enjoyment. For example, the fact that almost everything was filmed in Malta and passed off as countries such as Italy, Greece, or Lebanon when it is clearly not. In addition, there are some members of the group whose role is not clear to me.

"Munich" is a film in which Spielberg knowingly takes liberties with historical accuracy, but he does so to prevent the audience from fully siding with any of the protagonists. The result is a morally ambiguous thriller that keeps circling back to unsettling questions — chief among them: how far would you be willing to go to avenge your own people?

Of all Spielberg's films, this true-life drama is one of his most daring ventures; its greatest strength was that it did not take sides or show sympathy for anyone, and the nearly three hours did not feel exhausting.

This is a dark movie without easy lessons. It is a series of morally muddy vingettes. The sex scene near the end is bizarre- not surprising with Spielberg. The killing is always brutal and never purely satisfying, nor should it be. I get the reasons for the critical praise, but this was not for me.
