Murmur of the Hearts' gorgeous cinematography and lush soundscape create a palpably beautiful environment of nostalgia, longing, and mystery where past, present, fantasy and reality mingle to impressive effect. Go to Full Review

Chang injects some surrealism with a character who pops up unexpectedly in Yu-mei and Yu-nan's lives, but it sits oddly with the rest of the film. Go to Full Review

02/10/2016 Sylvia Chang tries desperately to piece the together the past and the present and two convoluted stories, but the end result is not entirely satisfying. Characters feel distant even though we get to see the entire upbringing, proving that perhaps the story itself simply isn't crippling enough. For a movie that hangs by the emotion connection with characters, it is a fatal downfall. Also a waste of a strong cast, headlined by the return of Isabelle Leung. See more Read all reviews
