At the very beginning, Di Stefano hints that this film is inspired by moments from his own life, and real life can indeed be messy and complicated and fail to fit the Hollywoodised narrative template. This needed some script revision. Go to Full Review

With his wolfish grin and rascally vibe, his hungover eyes concealed by mirrored aviators, Favino plays the type as though he invented it. Go to Full Review

[Mr. Favino's] ability to show a thought process and react with attractive unpredictability is the main reason to see this movie. But sorry to say when it’s done you won’t be shouting “Bravo!” Go to Full Review

Steve P @RT40782903 Apr 20, 2026 I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The young son, coached religiously by his father, won all the regional games and qualified for a higher level tournament being held with games all over Italy. The film explores the relationship between the boy, his father and his family as well as the coach his father entrusted for this portion of the tennis journey. The relationship, the discovery, the transformation and growth that ensues and carries you through an emotional rollercoaster ride is worth the price of admission.
