Critics Consensus

At times hilarious, but other times offensive, Director Jared Hess is unable to recapture the collective charisma of his Napoleon characters, instead relying on a one-joke concept that runs out of steam. Sure to entertain the adolescents, however.

As in Napoleon Dynamite, there are catchphrases galore, but precious few that stick with you past the theatre parking lot.

Imagine my disappointment then, which grew to disbelief, which turned into utter disdain, by the time the credits rolled on this clunker.

After a while, this disappointing film just lays there, like a wrestler body-slammed one time too many.

Hess doesn't take it all far enough (the PG rating seems unusually restrictive), especially with the audacity of gags and the frequency of jokes.

Never quite as funny as it threatens to be, but Black's misplaced enthusiasm in the fight-night sequences remains a grotesquely pleasing joy to behold throughout.

Nacho Libre is a very strange, very silly film that probably shouldn’t work, but it works just often enough. Black is a delight, Jiménez is a great sidekick, and the whole thing has the offbeat charm of a comedy that doesn’t care what anyone thinks.

This is my favorite movie. It’s funny, full of quotable lines for the whole family. It has a good message. It’s a cinematic masterpiece also. Every frame is beautiful and well thought out.

It’s an absolute travesty that the ratings for this movie critics and non-critics are so low. I personally haven’t seen a lot of movies but if you haven’t seen this movie then this would be a good start. I mean come on it’s Jack Black.

There are 2 types of people in this world. Those who admire and truly appreciate the brilliance of Nacho Libre, and those who are a poor contribution to humanity
