Blake- N @PBSAniDom Apr 19 National Lampoon’s European Vacation is a disappointing follow-up that has a few funny moments, but overall feels like a weak sequel to the original. The movie takes the Griswolds on a trip across Europe, yet the humor is much less sharp and the comedy often relies too heavily on silly misunderstandings and repeated gags. While Chevy Chase still brings some charm to Clark, the story never feels as fresh or inspired as it should. A lot of the jokes miss, and the film seems more interested in forcing chaos than building genuinely clever comedy. Some scenes are mildly entertaining, but they are not enough to make the movie stand out. Compared to the first film, this one feels more scattered and less memorable. Overall, it is a bit of an abysmal sequel with just enough laughs to keep it from being completely terrible. 4/10. See more Paul D. @MoroseMusician Mar 10 The actors hired to play Audrey and Rusty for this sequel detracted from what was already an ill-conceived and poorly executed sequel to the original movie, which itself wasn’t exactly masterful film making. There were age-inappropriateness issues in the screenplay involving both of the kids, which were intended to elicit laughter but which instead probably caused adults with teenaged children to cringe. I really recommend this movie👍 See more M G @RT46851707 Dec 18 The first Vacation is one of my favorite movies, and I can rewatch Vegas and Christmas Vacation as well. This is the weakest of the bunch. It's not that funny. The kids are not the same, which is okay for Audrey..Dana Hill is a fine substitute..but I am really missing the dorky charm of Anthony Michael Hall here. There are so many European stereotypes at play you can pretty much predict them. I like when they knock over Stonehenge, but that's really the only thing memoriable.
