Carlo A @Mr_Gaunt 9h The movie does not hold a candle to the original material. The suspenseful writing, the big build up of tension and the chaotic, epic, violent mess found in the book are completely gone, the characters stripped of their nuance (the worst of all being sheriff Pangborn). Entire plotlines from the book are entirely cut off, the story is stripped to 3/4 of its cardinal moments which feel out of place and completely arbitrary. On a more technical note, the acting is as dull as the writing is botched, this feels written buy someone who read the book once 10 years ago and tried to write a movie about it, making stuff up when they didn't remember what went on in the story. Cinematography is good enough. Lots of drama, intrigue, suspense, sinister ambiance and emotion. Food for thought, imo. Want and lust nearly always lead to destruction. Could have been much more, as I guess Stephen King visualized it. Worth a watch See more Joy B. @9mr_0 Jan 5 فلم حلو . الإخراج كان جيد في بعض المشاهد، لكن في مشاهد ثانية ما كان بنفس القوة. القصة كانت متماسكة في بعض المراحل، وفي مراحل ثانية فقدت التركيز. الشخصيات الرئيسية أداؤهم قوي، لكن أدوارهم ما كانت عميقة كفاية، أما الشخصيات الثانوية فكان تطورها ضعيف وردود أفعالهم أحياناً غير مقنعة و مبالغ فيها. أما التصوير، فكان على العموم ثابت ويخلق أجواء نفسية مظلمة ومشوقة، بينما الموسيقى كانت رائعة ومتناسقة مع المشاهد. I say READ THE BOOK! And 2--it's hokey camp... I say it'd be depressing as all get out if it wasn't handled in a campy way!! NO Stephen King movie is ever as good as the book, BUT The Shining had the phenomenal Jack Nicholson, and Needful Things has Max Von Sydow. This campy rendition makes me WANT to read the book(which is all that matters) --and enjoy this movie, again and again!!
