Critics Consensus

Admirably eclectic yet more consistent than most horror anthologies, Nightmare Cinema should entertain viewers in the mood for a good old-fashioned creepshow.

Overall, "Nightmare Cinema" is more stomach-turning than truly frightening, but thanks to the obvious love and care put into it, it's worth seeing. Go to Full Review

Nightmare Cinema as a whole is the bloodiest, most violent, most gruesome and most twisted movie I've seen this year. And I mean that mostly in a good way. Go to Full Review

[A] scattered but amusing horror anthology that gives five directors a whack at telling short, contained tales of terror, "Creepshow"-style. Go to Full Review

For a two-hour movie, Nightmare Cinema offers few genuine pleasures and, sadly, more disappointments than a worthwhile horror anthology should have. Go to Full Review

High production value and diverse tales of terror make this a standout horror anthology. Go to Full Review

The stories themselves have a surprisingly high hit rate, but the film is let down by its poorly thought-out linking concept. Go to Full Review

Claudio C @Claudio666 4d The Death Collector (12,243 – 29 Jan 2026) "Nightmare Cinema" (2018) is an anthology of five horror tales: 1) The Thing in the Woods: the teenager Samantha and her friends are hunted down by a killer, but soon she learns the motive. This funny segment is homage the 50’s, with alien spiders. 2) Mirari: David proposes his girlfriend Anna, who has had a scar on the face since she was two. He offers to pay for plastic surgery and Anna accepts. This weird segment is a critic to unnecessary surgeries. 3) Mashit: When a boy commits suicide at a boarding school, they are possessed by a demon. This gore segment is good and conventional. 4) This Way to Egress: Helen goes to the doctor with her sons Eric and Chris in a gruesome place. This episode has wonderful cinematography but the story is confusing. 5) Dead: Riley survives a heist where his parents die. In the hospital, he sees spiritsand the killer. This segment has a dark conclusion. My vote is seven.
