When Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), a knight in a futuristic medieval world, is framed for a crime he didn't commit, the only one who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz), a mischievous teen with a taste for mayhem -- who also happens to be a shapeshifting creature Ballister has been trained to destroy. But with the entire kingdom out to get him, Nimona's the best (or technically the only) sidekick Ballister can hope for. And as the lines between heroes, villains, and monsters start to blur, the two of them set out to wreak serious havoc -- for Ballister to clear his name once and for all, and for Nimona to... just wreak serious havoc.

I think it's the third act's a little weak, but I enjoyed it very much and has got a lot to say. Go to Full Review

Just as Stevenson somehow magicked Netflix into green-lighting She-Ra and the Princesses of Power's unmatched all-ages queer storytelling, he bamboozled them with Nimona too. This baby is gay. Go to Full Review

Netflix’s Nimona manages to mostly overcome an arduous production history to deliver an incredibly entertaining and moving tale, whilst providing plenty of great LGBTQ+ representation. Go to Full Review

It has fight after battle after skirmish after fight, which is certainly exciting but feels somewhat formulaic. But then, what else could possibly happen in a futuristic medieval kingdom? Go to Full Review

Alec 07/10/2023 I liked the characters and actor performances. The plot and dialogue were below average and could have benefited from more time, even though there were five or six writers credited. See more Joey F @RT89434802 12h Everything about this movie is horrible. The animation is disgustingly ugly and bad, somehow looking 3D and 2D at the same time with a boring and untextured color palette. The movie sends terrible and confusing messages about faggotry and and how to behave around others. I would absolutely never show my kids this movie as the main character girl is a rude ignorant brat with zero respect for people and mixed up ideals. Besides the fact, the movie is okay action and story wise, but has disgusting story and terrible character in the main characters that i would never set as a role model for my children. See more prawnda S @RT72497680 5d the movie is decent, i like some of the characters and worldbuilding, transformation is fun, but every time nimona says "I'm Nimona", i have a little coin toss in my mind over whether im going to turn the movie off. this is a placeholder, not a catch phrase. the other characters complain that it's pointless, and it's true. it's not funny though, it just shouldn't be a part of a finished product. it seems that the two male directors probably lack an understanding of women in general, especially younger ones, and seek to infantilize the character narratively despite her by all means *not* being a child. the rest of the content is fine, but 97% recommended for this is a big stretch if one of the main features of their script is the literary equivalent of an infant naming a kitten "kitty" or a dog "doggy". even if they wanted to go cutesie like that, "i'm nemona" does not land, and is also the reason i didnt watch this when it came out. The art style is almost like a painting:0 It depicts queer characters using fantasy elements to represent their identity really well. It doesn't feel forced too, which is why I was able to watch this with my family :D It's a good watch if you like to watch colorful cartoons while also tackling social issues so give this a try :) See more Declan D. @filmbuffkid Apr 14 I really love this movie, everything (well almost everything) was perfect, the animation, the acting, the score, the characters were perfect, the only thing that I dislike about the movie is the.. well how I should put this? It’s “rainbow” themes, its target audiences are the children but I don’t think it’s a good idea to add those themes towards children, and it’s not really needed, plus theses types of themes are a little to mature for it’s targeted audiences, the reason why it’s put in is because they (Netflix) put it out there so the audience is appealed to it, But some portion of the audience (like me) doesn’t seem to like the idea of it, but besides that it is peak and not made by Disney. 8.7/10.
