Luke S @Moscowmule77 3d I really enjoyed this. One Last Deal is a brilliant, tightly written film with solid dialogue and great pacing. There’s a real darkness to the story, and watching the character evolve throughout was really satisfying. The writing is strong from start to finish, and the production is impressive, especially considering the entire film is set in one room. Danny Dyer is absolutely fantastic in the lead role and completely carries the film, it was a great opportunity for him to demonstrate what he has in his locker, and he delivered. Easily one of his best performances and perhaps even award worthy? Huge credit to the producer as well for putting together such a unique, well-made film. The end cap all my attention and is very reflexive about the role that parents played sometimes and the impact it had on their families, and also a compassionate look because they didn't know how to do it any other way. Love him or loathe him, Dyer throws himself fully into the role—wheeling, dealing, and gradually unravelling as the pressure mounts. The film starts with an unlikeable character who has a sly sense of mischief about him, dancing around in a world of dodgy deals and moral grey areas. But as the story progresses, that spark dims, giving way to something heavier and more sombre. Brilliant writing by Peter Howlett, which is only elevated by Danny Dyer’s performance in it. The film may divide opinion, but it’s hard to deny its ambition. If there’s any justice, Danny Dyer should be in the conversation when awards season rolls around. I have to hand it to the script writer, producer and actor - Danny Dyer. This film covers the life of a football agent, his desire for the big time. He is driven to succeed to the the point he doesn't see the curve coming. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. The script is tight and the language is fitting for the cut throat world sport fans never see but know exists. There are laughs and tender moments from an actor who deserves much praise. The films tackles the unspoken aspect of who men are, and this may be uncomfortable for some. If it is, then is says something about them. But for me, this is a film that spans time. It is brave and pulls the curtains back on a sport most people love but aren't brave enough to speak the truth. This film speaks the truth. And the performance from Danny - excellent. Absolutely fantastic film. It's a 10 out of 10 from me. See more Andrea K @RT44815719 6d One Last Deal is a brilliant, tense film that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The whole story feels intense and fast-paced, with constant pressure building as everything starts to unravel around the main character. Danny Dyer’s performance is fantastic and really carries the film, especially in the quieter moments where the tension is all in the dialogue and reactions. Even though much of the story happens in a fairly confined setting, it never feels slow or boring, if anything it makes the drama feel more real and immediate. What I liked most was how it shows the messy side of ambition and desperation. The stakes keep getting higher, and you’re never quite sure how things are going to end. By the final act it’s gripping and genuinely stressful in the best way. Highly recommend! See more Read all reviews
