Ruth Wilson, Andrew Scott, Jeff Wilbusch, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie.This true story about the Oslo Peace Accords was dramatic and inspirational. It's about trying to make peace with sworn enemies anyway possible. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's worth watching. See more 11/26/2021 Oslo (HBO) is a movie version of the play about the diplomatic back channel formed to negotiate peace with the PLO and the Israeli government. The play (from what I understand) was three hours long and this film is only two hours long. I don't know what was cut (I suspect some background info on our main couple as their entire role is a bit vague in the movie). I found it watchable but often felt it cut away form the diplomatic action and it was often very unclear what moved the characters forward towards comprise in many of the encounters, but every once in a while, the dialog clicks into place. I think some of the casting is a bit odd ...seeming more movie star than historical figure (and skewing way to British). It is likely more interesting to history and communications majors than the public, but even then, I can't say it is a top tier experience. For me 3 stars out of 5... and that may be generous. See more wayne m @Wayne93 06/29/2021 Oslo is a smart and intelligent film that displays humanity in a time of crisis. The film is based on the play of the same name and is about the Oslo Peace Talks of 1993 between Israel and the PLO. Ruth Wilson and Andrew Scott play Norwegian diplomats who 'back channel' talks in a neutral location to attempt to bring peace to the Middle East. The talks were essentially 'secret' for the purpose of them being more constructive. This well acted film is a good look at the history of the time and how personal dynamics can impact any peace talks. There is a lot personality on display here along with some cracking dialogue.
