Critics Consensus

A stylish ride weighed down by the litany of clichés it picks up along the way, Passenger drives in circles but has some memorable bumps and jolts during the journey.

Norwegian director André Øvredal does not reinvent the wheel with this humble genre entry, but the film’s slick formal language, game central performances and intelligent thematic explorations make it a satisfying thrill-ride.

Like a bright headlight facing you dead on or the sudden honk of a loud horn, only the jump scares keep you from falling asleep during the seemingly interminable Passenger.

It is a fairly solid bit of genre craftwork that is a lot more impressive than its desultory release might suggest.

Passenger starts off well and delivers an impressive Atmos experience, but its lack of character development and backstory leaves the final act struggling to reach its destination.

Ovredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe) has past form with horror, but here fails to build any real atmosphere. That, coupled with an ineffectual villain and anticlimactic final act, cannot steer the film away from remaining forgettable, frightless fodder.

nothing remarkable about this movie, i would’ve preferred to watch this on a streaming service than have paid ~$20 to see it. the trailers painted a different picture and it just wasn’t what i was expecting.

Very mediocre movie, the plot wasn’t explained with great detail, the acting was ehh, and the ending was rushed. However, there are clever scares and frightening scenarios.
