Blu B @RT43513976 6 days ago There's 2 things this has going for it that keeps it from falling flat on its face. Steve Martin is pretty good here as the Inspector and gets the material quite well. It's simliar to Leslie Neilson in the Naked Gun flicks. There's actually some clever parts and slapstick that suprisingly works and is pretty funny at times. Especially in the middle the film just goes on a solid run of gags tha actually got me to laugh quite a bit. I'd say it's funny 60% of the time though it takes a little while about 30 minutes in for it to go on a run which comes out of nowhere. But the big death blow here is the actual mystery of who the killer is and hunting the diamond down makes no freakin sense and is convuluted. I can't tell if its because it so poorly done or what but yeah I had no idea what was happening with the actual core plot. But because it was funny I was too busy enjoying myself the majority of the time to notice. It does run out of gas by the end where it has to unravel the caper See more

Ally D @allythelibra Aug 8, 2026 Sometimes, Rotten Tomatoes gets it wrong, take The Sheep Detectives 94% critic rating and 96% audience rating despite how corny, predictable, stretched out, and objectively unfunny it is. Chris Martin nailed this character down to the last minute. It’s the unwavering confidence whilst walking into a “sound proof” room and passing gas while everyone hears or confidently describing a woman in heels as it whines up to just be a male soccer trainer. He’s so seamlessly passive in his comedy, unlike today where it’s so painfully try hard that they script in time to wait for an audience reaction before moving on; almost like you’re forced to do a polite laugh just to break the awkward silence. Think Airplane or I Love Lucy comedy. If you let the cranky comment section convince you otherwise, you’re robbing yourselves. It’s hilarious and deserves all the flowers 💐 See more

See more
