An offbeat comedy about friendship, purpose, and trying to grow something real in a city built to keep people apart. Cory is a lonely, doom scrolling thirty-something whose most consistent relationship is with his Instagram algorithm. His apartment? An emotionally vacant, sterile, void. His fridge? Mostly Celsius. And his idea of connection is dodging calls from the one person who still tries: Fox, a soft-hearted ex-con with terrible advice rooted in institutional paranoia and his love of films. Everything shifts when Cory has a run-in, literally, with Plantman, a rogue horticultural crusader armed with a mysterious dossier of negligent plant owners. What starts as an awkward attempt to smooth things over turns into a reluctant partnership and a week-long mission to rescue forgotten houseplants throughout the city. As Cory gets pulled into Plantman's world of secret nurseries and stakeouts, he finds himself tangled in a strange but sincere community trying to keep something alive: plants, friendships, maybe even themselves. Meanwhile, hovering in the background: the "NextDoor Boys," a crew of aggrieved neighbors who have banded together on a mission to bring Plantman down. Plantman & Blondie is a film about modern disconnection and finding meaning in the smallest acts of care. It's about late bloomers, weird friendships, and the idea that even in a city obsessed with surface, there's still room to root down and grow.

When director Robb Boardman and crew don’t seem to have a mean bone in their body, the counterintuitive amiability of the whole endeavor is what gives it the extra bit of edge to stand out. Go to Full Review

Where the Dress Up Gang excels is in creating a community of found family. That aspect of keeping a small business afloat, combined with crafting supportive friendships, helps the feature feel essential for this moment. Go to Full Review

By the time the credits roll, you might find yourself thinking the same thing I did. This movie is definitely in that rare category of films that are so weird they somehow circle back around to being fun. Go to Full Review
