Marco L @decatur555 Oct 22, 2026 This is an uneven but surprisingly nasty young-adult dystopian thriller. Destry Allyn Spielberg avoids making the apocalypse feel too sanitized, giving the world a cruel, hostile edge where adults can be as threatening as the virus itself. Zoe Colletti works well as a vulnerable but alert lead, while Michelle Dockery gives the film its strongest and most unsettling presence. Giancarlo Esposito adds authority and weight. The film mixes dark fairy tale, exploitation and survival horror with mixed results: some characters are underdeveloped, the pacing slips and several ideas about fear, authority and loss are not explored deeply enough. Still, it is darker, meaner and more interesting than I expected. Not a great film, but a solid, uncomfortable genre piece with enough personality to rise above mediocrity. It made the intensity of the scenes and my vested interest in the outcome that much more visceral, in a way that scary movies with an "older cast" just cannot replicate. They were fantastic actors and actresses as well! See more Keisha M. @RT51425514 Jun 15, 2026 Storyline in the beginning is interesting....adults despise the remaining population mostly children that survive a viral outbreak. When the kids get into the shoot-out at the gas station....one of the kids gets shot. This makes the kids seek any kind of medical help possible and fast before he bleeds out! They end up knocking at the door of a deranged woman who after tricking the group. Holds them hostage. The kids are forced to escape the torture she inflicts!!!
