Promised Land showed alot of promise due to the strong cast; who would have fared better with a stronger script. Strong performances from Ryan in a breakout role and Sutherland; who conveys alot of sympathy as the well meaning but over his head Senator More subtle performances were given from Pollan and Gedrick, who needed better material. Beatiful soundtrack and exterior filming make this movie enjoyable but could have been so much more.

Small town circle of friends take diverging paths that lead back to Ashville with tragic results. A slice of Americana that never truly achieves its aim. Familiar cast, however, with some characters of interest. Filmed with assistance of the Sundance Film Festival with Robert Redford credited as executive producer.

wandering back to late 80´s when i watch this movie. How Meg Ryan was Awesome in this role, and she was worth through all that movie. Effervescence acting is all there is on Meg Ryan!
