This is such a gem! I've been a huge John Travolta fan my whole life, but this by far exceeds great expectations. I'm so happy for him and for all involved in this project. As a professional actor, director and writer myself in the past, I fully appreciate everything that has gone into this and I'm so happy to see such a kiss to aviation to filmmaking to the best of the '60s and then some. Thank you John, Ella and all those who took part in this. Furthermore, to have the treat of seeing Kelly reflected in this project warms my heart beyond expression. I especially appreciated the performance of the mother who portrays a character of depth and breadth beyond any stereotype of that time--shes neither a "1950s housewife" nor a "movie star" but something far more relatable--a mother who loves her child and also loves being alive, loves mystery and adventure, and isn't afraid to take a risk for her dreams. Such a fresh perspective on womanhood and motherhood for that time period especially and therefore any time period I could have watched her performance for another hour of storytime and wanted to know more about her life. Sequel please!!! Also, I watched it with my two kids who really loved watching the details about the aircraft, the differences about flying in that time, and the fact that it was told for the perspective of an 8 year old child. Great family movie! (Warning to fellow parents: there are some real topics it brings up to discuss around sex and fidelity, but my kids didn't even notice). But I certainly can appreciate it for the passion project that this seemed to be. The early 1960’s was captured well in the exterior shots of the airport as well as inside the airport.
