In action-thriller RED RIGHT HAND, Cash (Orlando Bloom) is trying to live an honest and quiet life taking care of his recently orphaned niece Savannah (Chapel Oaks) in the Appalachian town of Odim County. When the sadistic kingpin Big Cat (Andie MacDowell) who runs the town forces him back into her services, Cash learns he’s capable of anything -- even killing -- to protect the town and the only family he has left. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t bother with a waste of time like Red Right Hand, but this is the stuff they’re making now. If you wait for something worthwhile, you might end up writing about only two or three movies a year.

It's a good movie but Bloom's character makes too many mistakes despite knowing how that world works. He works with the deputy, deputy gets killed and he doesn't think to hide or snatch the phone? Wild.

Orlando Bloom, like several actors from the British Isles and Australia, has a Southern/Appalachian accent that is surprisingly spot on. While the movie is somewhat formulaic, the performances are rock solid, and the script is better than the usual fare in this type of genre.
