Melissa Bergland is likeably larger than life in the lead but the script sorely lacks enough of the witty dialogue and humour the story requires. Even worse, it's awfully predictable. Go to Full Review

Bergland's a strong lead, though, and in Lexie's cranky-caring scenes with best friend Susie (Susan Kent) we can glimpse the much more engaging, and considerably funnier, movie that might have been. Go to Full Review

An unabashedly paint by numbers rom-com, despite its plethora of faults Relative Happiness is rendered watchable by an ingratiatingly offbeat charm and the effortless likeability of its leading lady. Go to Full Review

Alain E @AlainE Jan 24, 2025 This is a very sharp rom/com and I am definitely the wrong age and gender to enjoy this movie. In the beginning it looks like we will a quick happy ending resolution, but the script avoids this and other landmines. We have a lot of unexpected developments, including a death. Very satisfactory.
