Characters weren’t developed, or explained and that works sometimes, but just seems lazy and incomplete here. In her movies, I love Rosamund Pike because she is involved in some of the most fulfilling and craziest twist, in Hollywood, but this movie lacked it. Not to mention, you have great actors like Nick Nolte and Camryn Manheim in minor roles, and might as well just not been the movie. The ending was a crime. Really felt like you got to the part everyone was waiting for, and you just ran out of budget to do anything more. Sad.🤨. See more Esther G Jun 3 I’ll confess I pretty much watched this movie because I discovered Shiloh Fernandez today and I wanted to see other movies that he’s been in. Rosamond Pike must really like being in thriller movies, even if it’s not an A-list type of movie. Nothing wrong with that, just an observation. The trailer made it seem much more exciting than the movie actually was. After watching the trailer I was under the impression that her character was going to somehow seduce him almost to the point of having sex with him, and then play with him or toy with him and do something where she was the one who had the power instead of him in that particular situation. Even though she ends up with all the power in the end, it wasn’t redeeming or enjoyable to me in any way, shape, or form. It took all the way up until the last 20 minutes of the movie for it’s a really start getting good. The movie also never delves into why she was the way she was especially considering she confessed to killing her mom and killing her dad‘s dog. So by the end of the movie, you hate her almost as much as you hate him. Just a side note, I know all about writing to someone in prison, and there is no option for “return to sender“ on the prisoner’s side of things. What happens is, whenever your piece of mail arrives to the mail center at the prison, it is opened, inspected, and most likely read by someone in the center before the piece of mail goes to the prisoner. So the return to sender part of this movie could’ve never actually happened in real life. Okay, the lead is a Psychopath who murders people and animals, what's new? I wish the movie would have centred on Miranda avenging those who hurt her. Why did she kill the dog? I don't know...there's something to be said about unnecessary depictions of animal cruelty in films. What does that achieve? See more Read all reviews
