There is still more enjoyable material here than RoboCop 2, with all its OTT carnage, could even hint at. Go to Full Review

Fred Dekker keeps the pacing moving with lots of cool vehicle chases and explosions, but RoboCop, whose function has been reduced to mayhem and bad one-liners, gets Robo-Lost in the shuffle. Go to Full Review

On its own juvenile terms, Robocop 3 is a lot more entertaining than we have any right to expect and far, far superior to the mean-spirited Robocop 2. Go to Full Review

William A @RT85977331 4h Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 classic was a master class in satirical filmmaking. Irvin Kirshner’s sequel leaned further into the comic book genre, coming from source material written by famed comic book writer and artist Frank Miller. But, it gave us an old Detroit where Murphy struggles behind cyborg skin to find a place in a world where he’s now claimed obsolete. Drifting from the strong satirical overtones and commentary of its predecessor, RoboCop 2 still delivers an interesting dystopian story despite its flaws. (Sighs and shakes head, hanging in shame) That said, RoboCop 3 clumsily fumbles with terrific ideas that could have created a strong foundation for a worthy sequel had it been placed in more competent hands. Instead, it tactlessly replaces them with forgettable characters, missed opportunities, lackluster direction, and witless one liners. RoboCop 3 delivers the death stroke that killed a franchise with a lot of untapped potential. See more Lariste L @RT70611960 Feb 14 The first film had: an excellent character arc, sharp satire, a GREAT antagonist, good music, classic poster etc. I will confess, some of the censorship actually improved the 1987 classic, because it removed some of the rubbery prosthetic violence, improving the overall drama and effect of the film. ROBOCOP 3 however, wasn't even released to cinema in many regions; it was a straight-to-video non-starter with uniformly bad performances (blame: the director), cheesy bad guys, little dramatic depth. There's even focus-pulling errors left in. It's a b-movie where the titular character didn't bother appearing, probably because Robocop 2 was glossy, violent junk with nothing to say. I understand the market reality for making sequels, but have never understood why so many 1980s, and 90s era sequels are SO disappointingly bad. See more Frans B @FransB Aug 19 This one has lost a little luster. As a Robocop fan, I must confess this one is no thrill, unlike the others. Perhaps the worst of them all. Cast still convincing in character, with some exceptions. The ambiance falls a little flat and story lacks punch associated with what we are used to. Lots of action still though. Cinematography not too bad and visuals okay. Less focus on my hero, which is a pity See more Brandon A. @Brandon189 Aug 8 One of the worst Robocop movies of all time. See more Rob K @RT01232478 Jul 13 How dare you people say anything negative about one of the greats. This cinematic masterpiece has a compelling, thought-provoking script, an all star cast and, for its day, wonderful special effects. Is it in the same league as say Patton, Lincoln or Beavis and Butthead Do America? No. But this truly inspiring film brings joy and excitement to all who see it. Of course the first 2 are better, but this timeless epic shall forever be entrenched on our hearts and tattooed in our memories.
