Patricia C @RT61078086 Jul 25 Watched this when it first came out. Watching now my 5th or so time. Hands down my favourite Ryan Reynolds and Denzel film. Yes, film, not movie. It’s an adrenaline rush that also keeps your mind engaged on the plot. The low tomatometer is likely a reflection of new viewers watching this for the first time more than a decade after it’s release, and being disappointed because they don’t recognize how this film helped set the standards for movies today. Lighting, framing, documentary style filming, the performances, the characters arcs, the action sequences, all stand the test of time. The only thing is sound mixing as it relates to today’s tech. If you like spy action mystery thrillers, this is up there with the Bourne series. See more Jay W @RT52162311 Jun 21 Seeing this film after 2016 is strange. In modern context, when you hear "Ryan Reynolds", you picture him in his Deadpool persona. He'll make constant quips and some wink at the camera self-deprecating jokes. But not in this film. I counted, and Reynolds makes absolutely zero quips. His voice isn't even the higher pitched Deadpool voice. It's like he is ACTING. Weird. Denzel Washington shows up to work as always, no surprise there. Beyond that, there is nothing remarkable about this film. It has the story of every action movie ever. It has the post-Bourne shaking cam that makes the otherwise impressive action hard to follow. It's fine, just nothing special. It is very safe. See more Frans B @FransB Mar 24 Very good. Great directing by Daniel Espinosa. Very capable cast all convincing in character. Great cinematography and visually appealing. Well written and the story, albeit predictable, does entertain enough. They didn't exactly lean into the location. Might have been due to tax breaks. Everyone puts in the performance expected and you get the result you knew was coming...and most importantly...you were entertained!
