As bass guitarist for a garage-rock band, Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) has never had trouble getting a girlfriend; usually, the problem is getting rid of them. But when Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) skates into his heart, he finds she has the most troublesome baggage of all: an army of ex-boyfriends who will stop at nothing to eliminate him from her list of suitors.

Critics Consensus

Its script may not be as dazzling as its eye-popping visuals, but Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is fast, funny, and inventive.

Energy and invention and audacity count for little unless you can sense something at its core - unless a film gives you something to feel - but there is zilch here. It's hollow.

The chaos may seem out of control, but Wright seems to suggest that, much like the real world, chaos can be controlled by the power of our own emotions.
