Critics Consensus

A brutal, slow-moving drama that unfolds among some great-looking scenery.

Finally recalls a less convincing version of those of Anthony Mann which managed realism and the mythic without a false note.

Seraphim Falls is a violently, articulately anti-war treatise disguised as a Western. It starts with a bang and few false moves mar the nonstop action from then on.

While not your run of the mill western, it was at times somewhat predictable. However, good acting, Pierce Brosnan, and the conclusion make it worth the watch.

For all the talent, Seraphim falls really short of being a good chase/revenge western. Mixed tones of death, madness and forgiveness tank the last 15 minutes.

started off good, then repetitive situations made the movie boring as hell. Found myself checking to see how much longer till the end. Disappointed in both main actors, thier other movies were so much more superior..... Never watch again.

3/5 due to the high level of acting, however the message trying to be conveyed was told through a slow burn and random flashbacks that didn’t help the overall flow of the film

The basic plot and main characters are great. I enjoyed all of Pierce Brosnan’s gritty tactics and the unfolding legitimacy of Liam Neeson’s reason for hunting him down so ruthlessly. Certain characters didn’t even seem real- perhaps they were apparitions in the desert. I think the primary issue was the drawn-out nature of it all, with various scenarios that didn’t particularly develop the plot and just seemed to extend the length of the hunt between the two men. The ending also left me wanting more.
