Barbara Duggen, 'The Mobile Seamstress', is struggling to keep her fabric shop alive. After a botched sewing appointment sets her on a quest to replace her client's lost button, she unexpectedly stumbles upon a drug deal gone bad. Faced with two downed motorcyclists, guns, and a briefcase -- Barbara is completely torn. She is forced to pick between three choices: commit the perfect crime, call the police, or drive away. The narrative presents the repercussions of all three decisions, and the deadly confrontations that result from each as she gets entangled with the case's owner. Using thread to free herself, Barbara stops at nothing to save her store.

And therein lies the hidden narrative nutrition of Sew Torn’s crowdpleasing nucleus; we may be so busy scratching our Home Alone itch, that we don’t notice the ways in which Barbara’s use of thread clue us in to her psychology.

Sew Torn is creative and original, visually vibrant and stimulating, whimsical and a bit quirky, and quite entertaining and fun, with everything perfectly threaded through the cinematic needle to create a fabulous tapestry.

Starts pleasantly weird, like something that David Lynch would have imagined. It then progresses in ways that we cannot explain. Why in the first option the girl collects the surviving villain, but instead of taking him to a hospital she imprisons him in her living quarters? Then we have variations of what transpired before say like Run, Lola, Run, but the level of weirdness is not really explained. Also the setting is hard to pinpoint. The landscape looks like Switzerland, but everybody speaks English. However we are not in England as the car steering wheel is on the left side. Excellent color cinematography. I gave up after 45 minutes. On Prime.

What even was this? weirdly quiet and awkward scenes. Never have I ever seen a movie that made me just say a few times "can we get to the point" but I knew since the beginning she was a character that showed a skill and attentive but overall the movie was not good. Only the creative sewing like LMAO literally all there is that’s interesting. Why make a movie with no dialogue in order to capture the viewer.

Not a fan of the flash back especially changing the story line but otherwise a truly unique flick. Using thread as a weapon and a elderly law enforcement officer plus the ending that really bends reality.

Funny and full of action. Seemingly ordinary young seamstress finds herself in wildly dangerous situations and saves herself with her thread skills. This movie held my attention because it was never obvious what was coming next. Well acted and great fun!

While an impressive debut for Freddy Macdonald, the script of Sew Torn because a worn out thread by the middle of Act 2, and the novelty becomes a distracting gimmick. Still worthy of watching because this is the director's first film....but probably only for cinephile.
