See more Patricia P @RT07238447 Jun 4 book much better..typical teenage problems movie..predictable boring See more Jun 2 20 years old and director Ken Kwapis manages to successfully adapt the best-selling book by Ann Brasheres with much respect. | was afraid I was gonna hate it but it ended up being a very charming story about how a pair of pants can bring 4 friends together no matter what changes happen. Bridget is in Mexico on a soccer team seemingly falling for her coach. Tibby is at home working a dead end job while also filming her new documentary with a pesky neighbor. Carmen is off to see her dad finding out he’s set up a new life for himself. Lena is in Greece visiting her relatives falling in love with a local who’s actually forbidden to see her. Each of them experience new beginnings, unexpected developments, heartbreak, and new realizations. Of course they also have to deal with the difficulties of growing into adulthood next to love, loss, and learning to let go. The journey to maturity can be challenging but you’ll always have friends to count on. We can all learn to love ourselves, love our sisters, learn from our mistakes, be brave. Their problems are handled in very mature, realistic ways without being overly sentimental. The Greek landscapes are gorgeous. Definitely hits you hard emotionally towards the end. Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, Blake Lively, and Amber Tamblyn are all perfectly cast too. Friendship, individualism, and life’s possibilities are what this movie capitalizes on in excellent degrees. It’s a great viewing for young girls depicting the women as excited, confused, impetuous, and determined but for other family members as well to soak up the wonderful themes mainly the universal struggles of adolescence and friendship being bigger than any of our differences.
