See more Jonathan O @RT41230270 Apr 30 I like the original of smokey and the bandit but this sequel i laugh at some scenes and the car chase are good but I don't like when Smokey becomes a alcoholic throughout the scene and changing his behavior and they even mentioned the last scene scene from the original. See more Rob M @Morgrp Mar 26 A sad attempt at a sequel which no amount of car crashes can save. Whether Hal Needham and Brock Yates got lucky with the first Smokey film is open to debate, but the two follow ups prove using mediocre script writers and a stunt man as a director doesn’t really work. The film starts off reasonably well and there is no doubting the lovable characters are still appealing. There are even some jokes in the mix but things quickly start to go down hill as the story line becomes not only ridiculous but almost laughably implausible too. Unable to rehash the bootlegging back story of the original, they get desperate and introduce an elephant and Dom DeLuise neither of whom lift the now dragging plot. The film derails itself with painful celebrity cameos and around 30minutes of literally nothing in the middle. In a desperate attempt to salvage the film and somehow think of an ending they write of a ton of police cars with some weird characters played by Gleason - a sad movie indeed. See more Lariste L @RT70611960 Mar 23 First movie plays like The Godfather compared to this; the film displays some tragic sequel issues that should have been obvious to all concerned before making the film. The film has the tragic idea the "hero" character from the first film is a washed up loser, then heads off on a crazy driving adventure with . . . an elephant in a truck? This film just doesn't work, in terms of action, comedy or action-comedy. Made because the first one successfully sold Reynold's popularity at the time + decent stunt work.
