Breathe J @SilverScreenSweetheart 1d Oliver Stone’s film chronicles the revealing actions of Edward Snowden (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), an NSA contractor who leaked highly classified information to the public, risking his career, his safety, and his life. This movie is tense, engaging, and thrilling. Oliver Stone did a wonderful job telling Snowden’s story and humanizing Snowden. He also did a good job conveying the consequences of Snowden’s actions. The cinematography was good and I liked the incorporation of real archival footage. The performances were strong, especially those of Gordon-Levitt and Nicolas Cage (whom I am generally not a fan of). Their performances added heart and emotional depth to the movie. Overall, I enjoyed this movie and I found it interesting, thrilling, and captivating. I would definitely recommend it, especially for fans of the genre. Thank you for reading my review! While I’m sure the film doesn’t explore every detail and probably embellishes certain parts for dramatic effect, it tells a compelling story about what an ordinary person might do after seeing how the government operates behind closed doors. From Edward Snowden’s perspective, his actions were about doing what he believed was right and giving the American people the truth. Whether you agree with every decision he made or not, the movie raises important questions about privacy, government power, and personal responsibility. At its core, it is a story about standing up for what you believe in, which, in many ways, is what America is supposed to be about.
