Critics Consensus

Weighed down by a rote story and passionless performances, Striking Distance represents one of the lesser '90s genre outings from action hero Bruce Willis.

If "Striking Distance" were a book, it could be called a good read. Instead, it's a painless watch.

Striking Distance is an exhausted reassembly of bits and pieces from all the other movies that are more or less exactly like this one.

How far can Bruce Willis' grin and biceps carry a cop thriller full of familiar turns? Striking Distance answers: pretty far, as long as no one asks too much of the plot.

The hard truth is that Bruce Willis is just one of many faces going forth here as gamely as possible. And yet for its crude and compromised stitching, "Striking Distance" remains weird, wobbly and eminently watchable.

Although the basic concept is intriguing and the serial killer's methods are memorable, the pacing is noticeably faulty.

Herringston's return to his hometown is no triumph, striking out at every turn, and failing to go the distance.

Ridiculously silly plot that is probably one of the most predictable things ever made. It literally insults your intelligence it is so silly. However the star power of this film does make it watchable. You have Bruce Willis, SJ Parker, Tom Seizmore, Dennis Farina, and loads of other brilliant character actors. Silly 90s thriller, but still fun.

This movie just lacks it. You do not feel anything at all for the characters and the story plods along. There is a mandatory car chase, boat chase and people say the "f "word with conviction but it just does not work. You definitely feel 101 minutes closer to death at the end of the movie !

Bruce Willis any time, all the time. Low Budget cop thriller with some good cast members but just fun to watch Willis in his prime.
