An obvious labor of love, the film successfully comments on gays in the military, racism, xenophobia, and sexism in a sly, entertaining manner throughout. Go to Full Review

In some ways, its comic license is no more a betrayal of history than some of the liberties taken by Steven Spielberg and "Lincoln." Go to Full Review

Satisfyingly sends up pious History Channel-style treatments of the conflict, gathering steam and inspiration as it progresses. Go to Full Review

Even though this overambitious mockumentary misses the mark, first-time writer/director Wendy Jo Cohen exhibits sufficient potential to make me curious about her next venture. Go to Full Review

Aug 11, 2020 Loved the send up of Ken Burns films. Lightly funny, I thought it was an amusing tale See more
Jun 3, 2013 This is a film that creeps up on you... Is it real? Is it not? Like Thomas Pynchon BoPWC blends historical fact and fiction into a wonderful, funny tapestry. Wonderful period images or recreated reminiscent of Woody Allen's "Zelig." It doesn't whack you over the head -- this is a thinking person's comedy. Sends up PBS, Ken Burns and history. If you hate pretentious historical documentaries you'll love Battle of Pussy Willow Creek. See more
Jun 3, 2013 This is a wonderful tongue-in-cheek mockumentary. Well written, wonderfully directed and entertaining. Very creative take on the civil war. I highly recommend this movie. See more
Jun 3, 2013 This movie definitely puts things into perspective on how times have changed and not changed since the civil war, while at the same time being just good ol' entertainment! See more
May 31, 2013 Awesome satire of the PBS torture doc. Viva the pussy willow! See more
