I mean it was okay. It definitely was suspenseful for the whole movie with some real world family dynamics. But it felt less of a horror for most of the movie and more like a drama, and then when it finally got into the horror it wasn’t terrible but it definitely was a little silly it felt like. I couldn’t take some parts super serious.

A fantastic (and tough) drama, wrapped into an unspectacular-silly demonic possession story. But the drama is well worth it: top notch acting (Andra Day deserves the next 3 oscars for this, Glenn Close also sublime, but almost everyone is outstanding here), some of the best dialogue in years; great screenplay, great camerawork, elite directing. So much of it so well done. But be warned, it IS tough - not because of the demon. It's because of the realistic, inescapable, creeping hopelessness. (Which is of course metaphorically represented by the demon.)
