Logan D @Greynomad38 04/29/2025 An old man drinks dust from a church to heal himself. A kid (goat) is born. A tree is felled. A tree is burned. One of the noted examples of "slow cinema," it's full of long takes and very rarely has any camera movement. The film is inspired by Pythagoras' idea of four phases, or "turns," structuring itself around 4 consecutive stories. Although much of it consists of beautiful shots, oftentimes I could rarely tolerate the length of them. Yes, kids are cute but I can watch them playing on Youtube. BTW, the story about the kid is heartbreaking. Not my type of film but worth a view to get an idea of the genre. See more 09/29/2014 93% of critics liked it. Slow paced and dialogue free which pulls you in and enchants you. A chilled out movie to watch. If you are expecting entertainment and action then go elsewhere. This is more poetic and arty. See more 09/08/2013 It might have had rave reviews but I found it boring and kept thinking of more productive things I could have been doing rather than sitting in a cinema watching pretty pictures that went on and on.
