Sweet and touching, this piece of Japanese animation takes real emotions and weaves them into a fantastical story. Go to Full Review

The film is therefore about healing above all else—with a dash of mythologizing come true. A solid, heartwarming drama that balances the real world with the supernatural. Go to Full Review

Warm, wise and wonderful. As poet Pablo Neruda once wrote, "They can cut all of the flowers, but they can't stop the spring from coming." The House of the Lost on the Cape captures the essence of that poem. Go to Full Review

Its themes, subject matter and messages are tempered by uninspiring art direction and a narrative more suited to a visual novel (down to the twinkly acoustic guitar in the soundtrack). Go to Full Review

The House of the Lost on the Cape is a fine story without the fantasy elements, but with them, it's a completely different and less successful one. Go to Full Review

|• x •| 09/12/2022 honestly a pretty decent movie the last half of the movie felt a little rushed though otherwise a great movie. See more Jay W @RT52162311 3d This movie feels unfinished. It feels like this is their 8th draft, and they were almost ready to finish things, but then the deadline hit them unexpectedly. There are some points where there is music missing, other times the music sounds like public domain filler music. The animation changes styles sometimes for stories, but those animated sequences have some still frames and missing bits. There is some distracting CGI for establishing shots. One character speaks in notes like she's Komi, and there are no English subtitles to translate what the notes say. The characters are nothing special. It is hard to latch onto one character who never talks and another character who has only two settings: angry or disinterested. I may sound overly harsh on this, but the movie does have redeeming qualities. It has an exciting ending, unique ideas and teaches some good morals. See more Kyle M @RT77296778 Sep 20 A cute and gently touching commemorative picture on grief and disaster that brought in unexpected fantastical elements embracing surrounding existential folklores decently represented as part of the overarching sappily blossoming heart, nothing extraordinary. (B) See more oliver @RT52251368 09/14/2022 Super boring. The only good experience I got out of it was playing tic tac toe and rock paper scissors with my mom to pass the time.
