Jesus returns to a disturbed, distracted world and is interviewed on a public access TV show. VHS video tapes, purchased at a storage auction in Florida, contain three episodes of a Los Angeles public access talk show and numerous reels of behind-the-scenes footage. There are tapes from TV news reports that tell the story of a man who called himself "Jesus" and tried to spread a message of peace, love, hope and forgiveness, but was largely ignored and ridiculed by the media.

The movie’s strongest asset, and what earns it the mildest of recommendations, is its open-mindedness and its generosity of spirit. Go to Full Review

Pamplin’s film is so lazily assembled, badly acted, horribly edited, and shot that it fails to elicit any point whatsoever. Go to Full Review

Still, I would rather watch a film willing to risk an uncomfortable question than one content to tell its audience exactly what it already believes. All in all, "The Jesus Tapes" is worth a look. Go to Full Review

Finds a clever lane to explore Christianity from an unusual perspective. It’s one that doesn’t shy away from genuine questions about religion, invites a skeptical mindset and criticism about faith issues like wars, poverty and tithing. Go to Full Review

See more Jeff Oct 28, 2026 This was a very thought-provoking movie. See more jenya Oct 25, 2026 This movie was absolutely amazing, I loved how passionate everyone was in this film, it really makes you think about how the world would react if Jesus truly did come back at this point in time. 10/10 would recommend See more Laura C Oct 23, 2026 I approached the film as a complete skeptic, but was quickly drawn in. I have had some personal challenges lately which made the films message resonate with me. Inspiring message. Inspiring film. Moved me to desire to explore a new relationship with Jesus and my lapsed Roman Catholicism going forward. Consider me impressed. See more Rose Oct 23, 2026 I was somewhat skeptical at first by the title of the movie. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was as if Jesus was speaking directly to me. He talked about love, kindness and forgiving. Isn't that what is needed in the world today? If only half the population were to see this film what a better place we would all be living in. I've only seen it twice and can't wait to see it a third time. I know that I have become a better person for it. Thank you!!!! See more Cathy Oct 18, 2026 The movie was recommended by a friend who wouldn't tell me much about it because he didn't want to spoil it for me. I'm glad he didn't because it was a great story. It touched me a lot and now I can't wait to talk to him about it. See more Read all reviews
